Coat of Paint

by Glenn G   Apr 18, 2012

She tries to forget her rape as a child but the memory replays itself in her mind like a broken record.
Her mind holds onto the sadness the way a shelf holds onto the dust.
She cannot cleanse the thoughts of his touch and the lust in his eyes.
She smiles as though life were normal and she laughs as though she is free of problems and yet I know they are just a coat of paint over a life of misery.
