Skyscrapers

by Mattias Ostling   Apr 23, 2012

Windows chattering in the wind--
doors laughing away.
They walk hand in hand,
kissing each other in the skies.

I am a rock--
A lonely pebble that rolls
in a valley of infinitely
tall buildings.

I am a runt--
A lonely dwarf who trudges
in mud and in cud.
With no ladder--
no way up,
and no way out.

I am a child--
A lonely infant who longs
for someone to raise me
to the skies where I, too,
can walk hand in hand,
kissing my neighbor,
chattering in the wind,
and laughing away.
