Rich Simplicity

by Maple Tree   May 9, 2012

I reside within a haven
of meadowlark whispers,
evergreen kisses and
dragonfly wind chimes.

These are the sounds
I hear as I coil my withered
soul within the luxury of
my precious mansion.

Pillars of Ivory
embrace my worrisome
eyes, black suede loungers
comfort achy limbs,
as golden trim faucets
overflow in essence of tears-

For you are my Mansion-

wrapped in masculine
tattoos and strength of a
mountain;devoured within
a cologne scented breeze,
bathing deeply in your soul.

Our parlor is nature,
and we drift away
upon a Rolls Royce cloud...

This is just amazing and beautiful. Your description and relation of material things to your loved one is just so creative. Really deserved to be nominated.

Andrea, not knowing who wrote this when I judged in the contest was really annoying, because I loved it so much, I wanted to let the person know personally...
So, now I have re-read and fallen in love with it all over again, I am ready to tell you why it deserved the vote of 10 that I gave it.

    I reside within a haven
    of meadowlark whispers,
    evergreen kisses and
    dragonfly wind chimes.

^^It was this opening that drew me in, the imagery was breathtakingly beautiful, simple to imagine but really gentle and calming, really sets the scene and makes the heart flutter.

    These are the sounds
I hear as I coil my withered
    soul within the luxury of
    my precious mansion.

^^The hint of sadness that lingered here was a personal touch to the poem, and I wasn't sure where this was going here, but I sensed there was someone involved, it being in the love poem section

    Pillars of Ivory
    embrace my worrisome
    eyes, black suede loungers
    comfort achy limbs,
    as golden trim faucets
    overflow in essence of tears-

^^^Again, the sadness here is heartfelt and heartbreaking to read but the imagery within it, "pillars of ivory", "golden trim faucets", gives the feeling of graciousness and beauty which is awesome

    For you are my Mansion-

    wrapped in masculine
    tattoos and strength of a
    mountain;devoured within
    a cologne scented breeze,
    bathing deeply in your soul.

^^To imagine someone in your life (now knowing this is about your husband) being in the comfort of a mansion...is so original. Here I imagine a man, stocky in build, with muscles and dressed smartly but causually...and its so poetic how you describe his cologne, WOW

    Our parlor is nature,
    and we drift away
    upon a Rolls Royce cloud...

^^That ending was like, DAMN sooo good.

Andrea, This deserved the 10 I awarded it and congratulations in winning the contest.

    Loved it

    I love this Andea,

This is so beautiful. I love the richness of the poem not because you're describing so many awesome and materialistic things like Rolls Royce etc, but you're talking about these things as if they were LOVE. Simple things in life.

So you are describing your love for your husband as being strong and rich. You don't find material things important as you are clearly not materialistic. I love the way you have expressed this in your poem. The words are awesome and the poem just made me all fluffy and good feeling inside.

A beautiful poem hun. I loved it!
