Mother Road

When I was but a child
And my mind so wild
You were there for me
And helped me be free.

I took a trip with you
Across green and blue
Through snow and ice
And it was so very nice.

You taught me our way
Which matured today
Into a garden of delight
With so many insights.

Then I could not see
But felt your security
When we layed down
On the asphalt ground.

I could feel your heat
And welcomed retreat
That stretched miles
With so many smiles.

My freedom sparker
Beautiful and darker
Than the outer space
With a beautiful face.

I love thee, my dear
As you are so clear
Like a spring in need
With water I am freed.

Your love defines me
And helps me to see
That first step I took
On a forgotten book.

Where I read of you
As the green and blue
On black and white
As my first insight.
