Let Me In

by Jump from Life   Jul 13, 2012

I've stood outside your bedroom door
until I couldn't stand, so I slumped to the floor.
Praying to God you'll let me in
before you commit the forbidden sin.

I hear your soft tears crash down
from tired eyes, then continue to a dismayed frown.
I know your sad because you lost your crown
but that's no reason to go and drown.

Please tell in hushed whispers all of your sorrows
to my withered mind, and I'll say you'll live to tomorrow.
You say that everyone has begun to borrow
your shoulder, beginning a quarrel.

This is all because of severe agitation
and the knife has become too much of a temptation.
I can see in your hallowed eyes your desperation
and I know what it's like to deal with the sensation.

In your heart lurks depression, that you drown in gin
and I know your blood is what fills that tin.
But, you know that I care for you, that I'm one of your kin.
So please, don't commit the sin and just let me in.
