Cycles Of My Life

by Thomas   Jul 29, 2012

First cycle:

Like old farm wisdom states:
"Conception starts with a seed
Carefully planted in fertile soil"
"Through care and nutrition
it will sprout and grow"

Second cycle:

A young puppy
yanked from the comforting nest
Thrown in the kennel
surrounded by strangers
But curiosity and exploration
trump the violent desire
All in preparation
for the coming dogfight

Third cycle:

Novice boxer
No real bout under his belt
Tossed in the ring
Ducking and weaving
Trading punches and getting knocked down
Throwing in the towel
is not on his mind

Fourth cycle:

Like the great Columbus
he crossed the ocean
Looking for something he didn't find
Instead of exploring the unknown lands
he explored himself 'till the very bottom
only to find darkness and loneliness

Fifth cycle:

Like old farm wisdom states:
"Plant one seed and harvest many
so that you can restart at the end
of the plant's life cycle"
I sprouted one seed
in the land of Columbus
and now I grow my own life

Wow, I do agree this is really good.
I really like the flow of the poem, by this I mean how the ideas ran smoothly.

I also like the beginning, haha well actualy, I liked everything. But my most favorite is the part where you mention that instead of exploring other lands, he explore himself.. Though it is sad because he only found darkness and loneliness, but I do think that that's only temporal.

Thank you for taking my challenge, this was really good. It was creative, I like the mentioning of first, second, third cycles... It gives enough time to the reader to analyze the info. See you are good with metaphors and similes. :D

Wow Thomas look at you, you did a wonderful job. Sometimes it takes another
person to encourage us since they believe
in us. Everlasting is going to be very proud
    and so am I
