The Last Day for Begging

by Khalid M Darwish   Aug 6, 2012

All day are the same for the unchangeable life
Things, unchangeable for lack of dreams
Time factor, valueless for the carelessness
People insult increasing, for the daily story
Clothes, miserable being unwashed for a long time
Body smell, disgusting for having no shower
Head, long hair and beard full of fleas for sleeping down the streets
Diseases, pervasive and seasonable without cure

Homeless, helpless, careless, Fearless and dreamless
Left the school since the childhood, can't pay the high fees
Thrown out of the family, can't get money for family needs
Family and relatives' ties, weak for he was brought up negligent
Begging income, mostly paid for cigarettes and rarely for health
Loaded with cascaded debt up to the neck, therefore can't pay off

Till one day met a thoroughly wise man who asked him:
'Don't you have anything at home?' 'Just be honest and tell me'
'I swear I've nothing but a small dirty carpet.' The bagger answered.
'Alright! Bring it then I'll tell you what to do' Said the man.
They washed it together till it seemed new!
They went to an open auction where the man started the offer.
Finally, they sell it with a comparatively good price, for the man being well known

The man took the money and bought an axe.
'To take this and wood with it is better than to ask people, where they may give or may not give.'
Few weeks later, the bagger was seen wearing nice clothes, riding a bicycle and carrying newspapers for sale in the village.
