Last Casualty

by Chad Picard   Aug 8, 2012

I'll reach across the ether
if only to apologize
for failing when victory was in sight.

In the long campaign
I spent my strength profligately
and had none for the final charge.

Yet fool that I am
and weak as I may be
Still the knowledge
that you succeeded
in no small part
because of me
Lends warmth and light
to my otherwise cold, dark solitude.

I regret none of it!

Just a little poem inspired by looking through old emails between me and my ex.
