Jeans and Grape Leafs

by Maple Tree   Aug 18, 2012

Smoked your soul away,
wrapped tightly in a grape leaf,
upon a hill I stood,
writing your name
upon my denim frayed,
exposed knee.

Stood in silence
as I let you go; freely.

It was only then I understood
what it meant to be alone,
yet happy, all in the same
smoke ring.

I was a daisy that you plucked
for enjoyment,
and on that day I became
a dandelion,
fierce, strong,
able to stand on my own too feet.

I'll always taste the sadness,
your name has since faded,
many years have past,
and these jeans still feel good.

OMG...I really did have to smile here...

    Smoked your soul away,
wrapped tightly in a grape leaf,
    upon a hill I stood,
    writing your name
    upon my denim frayed,

    ^^^

    I've never really smoked weed
in all honestly I've tried it twice in my whole life and that's the truth but...I can relate to writing names on my jeans....actually it was ban the bomb symbols if I remember now...
    .

    Stood in silence
as I let you go; freely.

    I can imagine this....there you go now...you're free of me but....I wouldn't have been so polite...Rack off..I don't need you maybe :)

It was only then I understood
what it meant to be alone,
yet happy, all in the same
    smoke ring.

    Well...I smoke cigs so...similar satisfaction I would imagine...ok..I've done it now...light a cig...inhale...feels damn terrific!

I was a daisy that you plucked
    for enjoyment,
and on that day I became
    a dandelion,
    fierce, strong,
able to stand on my own too feet.

Yes..dandelion...so bloody hardy I like the sililarity here...

too feet should be two feet.

    I'll always taste the sadness,
    your name has since faded,
    many years have past,
and these jeans still feel good.

Wear those jeans and be proud...I hope some stain remover washed the name out BTW lol

    FREAKING LOVED THIS SYRUP!!!

How the hell did i miss it?

    Smoked your soul away,
wrapped tightly in a grape leaf,
    upon a hill I stood,
    writing your name
    upon my denim frayed,
    exposed knee.

ok syrup, sometimes when you write you have such a great way of giving the reader a sense of nostalgia, in this stanza i love where you say about "writing your name
    upon my denim frayed,
exposed knee" it reminds me of a handful of memories in my own past and the imagery just made me smile even though it is full of melancholy.

    Stood in silence
as I let you go; freely.

    ^^^^^^^^
these two line....they set the mood amazingly well and i love how you do this in your writing !!

It was only then I understood
what it meant to be alone,
yet happy, all in the same
    smoke ring.

i have felt this way, Strangly, when i have really felt for the person, to be happy and both sad at the same time is such a human concept which always makes me think about loves that i have lost...maybe ones i didnt want to loose but knew it was right to move on.....and all in the same smoke ring....loved this metaphor.

I was a daisy that you plucked
    for enjoyment,
and on that day I became
    a dandelion,
    fierce, strong,
able to stand on my own too feet.

    AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!
Such a great way to describe empowerment and strength i love them all but i think this is my favorite stanza!

    I'll always taste the sadness,
    your name has since faded,
    many years have past,
and these jeans still feel good.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

i love the way you close a write, here is a perfect way to say you can still feel that moment of loss but you moved on anyway - not necessarily easily, but you did it anyway....

as you might tell i loved this piece syrup sooooooooooo much just wonderful xxxx
