Something to Chew On

by Larry Chamberlin   Aug 23, 2012

Appalachians to Rockies
in an afternoon;
mountain hopping to get to the prairie
in the middle of the West.

Drove north this morning
through green furred rolling peaks,
from Lookout past Monteagle to Nash-Vegas
and flew out of that fresh state.

Touched down in the brown western world
where blue silhouetted ranges
guard Denver from West Coast
watershed insanity.

I, a lone pilgrim, moved on
seeking the Lincoln Haymarket
with memories of herds driven
from Texas to Nebraska plains folk.

Such extremes drive a man
for a good steak dinner.

You are a smart, hot, wise man, sir. Sorry had to add the 'hot' thing.

    Loved this.
