I was sitting here thinking 'bout years ago,
those simple, easy days of youth
when we didn't know what life would hold,
we never thought past the next weekend,
we only saw what we felt right then.
Well you and I used to be good friends
back in those days of simple bliss,
we used to laugh and joke as we walked around,
now it's been so long since I saw you last.
I can't say that I've thought of you,
I can't say that I miss you by my side,
but I thought of you for the first time in a long long time
and I couldn't help but smile and laugh
as I thought of those awkward days
so very long ago now.
We've both grown up and grown apart,
life's not nearly so simple now,
we've chosen our paths, so very different,
the simple, easy innocence
has been replaced with a bitter taste
of stumbles and trips and mistakes
but from time to time I still can't help...
I can't say that I've thought of you,

I don't know where or who you are now
but still from time to time
I think about all those very late nights,
the arguments and laughing out loud,
dancing together in the dim light of a school dance
and the memories still warm my heart.
Wherever you are now,
who ever you've chosen to be now,
though we don't talk, I still have a simple wish,
I hope that you're happy, I hope that you smile,
I hope that your life is all that you wished for,
that you know all the joy and laughter you begged for.
Even if we never talk again
know that somewhere someone thinks of you
from time to time with endearing fondness
and is sending off a simple heartfelt prayer
for laughter and love to still surround you
as I think of those days so long ago
that still make me laugh despite the years,
the simple days of innocence of youth.
