Twenty Four-less

by Meme   Sep 11, 2012

The pavements I've been
chasing abandoned me in
the middle of nowhere;
withering I awaited there,
torn between a past autumn
leaf and a falling new one.

Twenty-four shades of
September; are now spun
around my no longer young
soul. Tangled there; as a
forgotten cocoon, hiding
behind the senescence of
autumn leaves.

This fragile breath has
given up on me, and those
shattered beats have lost
their echos. What is there
left for me when I have
nothing else left within?

I collected the iridescence
of days; everyday, but it
always failed to illuminate
whatever was there of me.
Why do you burden me?
Why do I find my colors
fading in your presence?
.
.
.
My dear September, I will
forever lose a little bit of
myself for you; and only
you, for it seems every time
you come around you own me
-yet again.

Meme, You always write so beautifully, even though I sense a sorrow and sadness here, which is intriguing, I can also feel your heart through the words, such exquisite writing as always

I am sure that I have missed out on some awesome poems but I am glad I stumbled across this one!!!

Firstly, Happy Birthday babe :"> I hope that you enjoyed yourself ... 24, still so young :">

The poem was awesome. I don't think that being 24 is old at all but I think sometimes people feel this way when they every year after they turn older, no matter what age they are. I think it's a brilliant write. I have missed your writes!!!

    Awesome, AWESOME

Well its not about being a year older, but there is something about autumn and September that just triggers a little bit of sadness in my heart :/

Oh, dear. Please don't be sad because you are a year older... birthdays are supposed to be something to enjoy even as we do grow older. You have lived another year!!! That in itself should be something you should rejoice about! :)

On to the poem, just wow. You never fail to amaze me, Meme! You have a way to writing that captivates me every single time. I get lost in your words and I feel your emotions and it's just like, gah... this woman is incredible.

First stanza: You have lost your way at some point, you are unsure where... but you feel completely lost and unsure of where your path is leading you. I think what you meant with the leaf is "turning of a new leaf" ... isn't that the saying? I may be wrong, but that's how I got it and I love how you stated it.

Second stanza: Sigh...twenty four shades of September. <3 hence, your birthday... I would have NEVER thought to say it that way. Love it!!!!

Third stanza: You feel hollow and incomplete. :( "shattered beats have lost their echos" God, that completely destroyed me! I love how you ended the stanza with a question, it makes the reader wonder.

Fourth stanza: I,also, didn't know the meaning of iridescence and had to look it up. And omg, what a wonderful word! The changes of color as the angle of view changes... like with bubbles! <3 Once again, you have wowed me!

Fifth stanza: Ending is perfect! You lose a little bit of you each September...you getting older.

This is definitely nominated by me!!!
