Never Neverland

by Alanis   Sep 11, 2012

Shadows are long in this luminescent moonlight.
Dark figures surround me like miss-shaped
Demons on the prowl, tearing at my mortal flesh.
I look away. And look at the stars. They turn and leave,
Like tantrumed children. Such wonder lies in the unexplored
Galaxies. "oh Peter Pan" I say allowed "why didn't you come
For me? You came for Wendy. Why not me?" The trees rustle as
A gentle wind blows. A warm wind cresses my naked cheek.
I beam at the star where Neverland would be. My nightgown
Blows in the wind. The pitter patter of my bare feet is my
Melody as I enter the house.

I really enjoy how this is written. Like the beginning of a well written novel.
