Misguided

If x marks the spot, there must be 26 letters in my alphabet
because all I see is you, a soul that's far from treasure.
You once were a chest full of rubies and gold,
but now it's boiled down to an empty map, filled with mind games.

Each letter seems to point towards your hatred of me.
Doing your best to contain my spirit whilst toying with my emotions,
ever since I discovered the truth, and followed your dreams.
Instead of a trove of greatness and love,
I found a mere carcass of deceit and despair.

I've rendered up my life, to the hands of a pirate.
Who wishes to rob me of my innocence,
than to bathe with me in wealth and love.
Deny me your heart, and I'll deny you my soul.

You promised to explore the world with me,
never managing to truly leave this idyllic charade,.
We never sailed those magnificent seven seas,
only the vast oceans of your complex and selfish mind.

    Chels and darren, this poem is just amazing.... the poem has flowed very well... It didnt seem to be the work of two people but as if u both just had encountered the same amount of sadness, it created such sad visuals afore me, I ended up with tears....
