Love of an Exile

by Jack Nightengale   Oct 26, 2012

Down in the depths of whatever is to believe,
Sat an exiled king shackled and chained to a throne,
So much pain, sorrow, and heartache to grieve,
The exiled king looked to the sky searching for a place to call home.

An angel flew over head and the king spoke out to her,
Whispers of nothing but the king found a place.
One day she spoke and asked the king what he was doing there,
"Sins little Angel" the king spoke to his saving grace.

For weeks the Angel would stop by to talk to him,
They would share jokes, laugh, and the king fell in love on a whim.
One day the Angel didn't come by, for she was being attacked from below
Feathers of her wings were being ripped as she was being choked with her own halo.

Enraged the king sought to protect the one that he love,
Breaking the bonds that restricted him and using the chains to protect his Angel like dove.
The Angel was frightened to find his true face,
The King was a monster, sinner to his own race.

The king feared the worst would come for a while,
So he finally confessed, the love of an exile.

Awwwww! this poem if my new favorite! this is such a beautiful poem i'm not even kidding! the emotions are rawish in a way and the imagery i could see it all in my head and feel it so much! then again i'm good in being a dreamer but still this poem is like a beautiful storylike song...one day if i have a daughter i will tell her this as a bed time story...5/5!
