A Matter of Time

by Kuro   Dec 13, 2012

My daily dose of apathy
Numbs the bitterness from my tongue;
But sometimes I can't help craving
A chocolate candy coated gun

How many licks will it take
Before I feel alive?
Forcing another smile
Leaving the truth deprived

Sugar rush melting in my mouth
All things must come to an end
Once it has lost it's flavor
It will be harder to pretend

Left trapped in my own self prison
When indifference is my crime
Once you start craving the candy
It's only a matter of time...

Meena and Sylvia have said it all. You're a bright person, Ben. You have a good heart and a purpose on this planet. I hope one day you'll see yourself the way the rest of us do. Strong poem as always. *hugs* -Nik

It feels like you have put yourself within a prison
where the open air or rather freedom is waiting to
take you in but you are reluctant to hold its hand.
I hope that whatever problem you are undergoing
    will soon dissipate..take care..

It makes me sad to read this and I would truly hope that this is not really the way you feel. You are alive, you are smart, you are young, you have your life in front of you. Happiness comes from within, not from others or things. I know you can be happy if you will begin to like yourself and give others a chance. I hope that you do not feel I am being to harsh, I suppose I have been greatly affected by the shooting today of 27 people, 20 little children, their lives ended and that makes me so sad. It is such a waste.
