A beautiful soul

by lillie   Jan 20, 2013

Laying there, face scratched up I've lost my fight.
Everyone was cheering for me, but inside it just didn't feel right.

He cheered for me, the one that I loved the most.
But as I lay here hopelessly, he abandoned me feeling like a ghost.
Did he not owe me his love? Was I not enough? for this man?

No matter the heart ache, I'd always be his #1 fan.
Hearing voices, as they walked past my body so still.
Some were laughing, it was a game, a sport, an ultimate thrill.

My eyes were weary as slowly they shut, my body floating like a feather.
You were mine, and I was yours, we built memories together.

Forever longing to find someone to love me for my beautiful soul.

You took me in, you fed me, finally I felt whole.
I searched and searched, but my search finally is done.
Our memories erased, no longer here, there are none.

My body leaving my soul, it flew away, for I did not win.
I was left to fight for my life in that box in that nightmare bin.

So here I lay, hoping you will take me home once more.
My love, is all for you, as my soul its gone, its soars.
You told me you loved me, you showed me the way.
But my love for you was greater, therefore I couldn't stay.

* This poem was for all the Pit Bulls who day in and day out who are put into these fights, why? I dont even know why! But I hope that this poem made you think for a second, maybe after reading this you realize that they are animals who crave love, attention, and patience. I hope that this poem made you realize that like other animals they too just want a good loving home, and nothing more. Most of all they want loyalty.*

Hey Shark Puncher, the poem is actually written in the eyes of a pit bull, and yes even though they get used for stupid things, at the end of the day they hope to be loved. That is the main thing in every dog they will do anything because they want to be loved by their owner.

The only thing I don't like about this poem is the fact you insinuate the owners have compassion for the dogs in the first place, through the dogs thoughts. I highly doubt the asses that use dogs to fight for fun (like Michael Vick did) have any compassion for them at all.

Oh Lillie, this was sad. I applaud you for being so empathetic and writing about those mute souls. It really hurts to hear such a thing about those animals and the way they are treated.
    Thanks for sharing this:)
