Plagiarizing [Tanka]

by Khalid M Darwish   Jan 20, 2013

To be an expert -
doesn't mean to write poems
by plagiarizing
Never belittle yourself
otherwise you'll be ashamed

--------------------

I wrote this poem because some poets tend to plagiarize poems from other sites. I hope every poet helps to stop this bad behavior someday.

Your short pieces like this always gives me the chill after I'm done reading; So little words, but yet so much meaning. This is very true. Keep on writing!

Plagiarism ... If I think about it this world plagiarizes everything. No one truly knows who or whom came up with the first idea... Andfrom that idea other people come up with another idea but the ideas are the same just the words are arrange different... So my thoughts .. What exactly is plagiarism? Using the same idea... Or using the same exact wording? What if I just change two or three words would that be plagiarism?

Some questions to ponder about... But yeah, I am not in favor of plagiarism. . .

Another great message in a few words. A good poet doesn't just write good poems; they also create their own style. I like what Rainbow Baby said about plagiarism not being poetry. Copying isn't art.

This is a great write! Very true, you do not have to hold amazing language skills to be able to create your own work, it comes from within you. I always say a poem is something that has came from within you, and you have expressed it through words. So to copy someone else's work is not producing a poem at all because it did not come from inside you.
