Left to Rot (A Song)

by Lance Hardy   Jan 24, 2013

A long time ago
I saw the sun so bright
With each breath I took
I filled my lungs with life
Life was better then...
Life was better then...

And one day it came
With clouds the black of night
A devil stood before me
And filled my chest with fright

But it was all too late
Her work was done
My soul was gone
A shadow left to rot
Battered and torn apart

Fires once so strong
Quenched by damning fluids
Bewildered control
No senses left to fool
Another lock and key

No place left to go
No end in sight
Spirits came to guide me
With false and shallow light

But it was all too late
Her work was done
My soul was gone
A shadow left to rot
Battered and torn apart

Why can't I just be free
From this hell that's inside of me
It's broken the man I once was
And with each passing day
All I can do is kneel and pray
For my everlasting peace

But it was all too late
Her work was done
My mind has gone
And she stole my only heart
Forever left with but scars

A song I wrote a year ago that I finally decided to finish.
Just something different.
