Shadow Walker

by Maple Tree   Jan 24, 2013

Exhausted outlines,
dipped in dying
shades of ruby red
adorn the eyes
of a lover, lost-

Lost within a veil
of dark shadowed
denial, frigid heart
weeps upon a
stone in waiting.

She lurks in the
meadows of tomorrows
flowers, for spring
shall breathe again,
even though she
has forgotten how....

I find this heavy with a hint of light to come, a nice dark piece, good work, I did enjoy it. It really feels like it could go further.

This really hits home for me. The use of words, the pace of it; it is immense! The last stanza maybe went a bit too fast for me, but it is a clear 5 and possibly the best poem I've read in a long, long time. Thank you so much for writing it and I hope it gives you the same pleasure as I got reading it.

I love this, and you really do write dark poems well, and they are captivating and thought provoking without being overly frightening, because you always add that little something of you, and it is beautiful.

I love the little light of hope at the end of this, that little bit about spring still coming, because it is so true, that although we may feel lost and we may lose our loved ones, life still goes on, the world still moves even if we feel defeated and hopeless...and that gives strength to us, that we can find something to grasp in the dark times.

    Mwah...love and hugs
