Repeated Mistakes

by Chelsey   Jan 27, 2013

Gravity is just another word for mistake. We walk away
and are pulled right back into its destruction, forcefully.
Committing repeat offenses, walking the same paths,
destined to live and die reeking of hypocrisy.

-Correct?-

Isn't that why we are all sinners? Isn't that
why no one is perfect? We are all falling,
pulling, pushing, fighting the thing that puts
us on our feet and knocks us on our back.

-Temptation-

Drawing us into its arms and preventing
us from being the best we can be. Stopping
us from moving forward, from receiving
forgiveness.

-Denial-

No. We'll never believe we're in it. Never
admit to being stubborn, immovable.
We just rot in emotions that tell us life
is too good to be true. Waking repetition

Wow this was so deep and I know there is tons of truth here....I like how you wove your own voice to that reality that we all repeat our mistakes. I especially liked how you wrote we "never admit to being stubborn, immovable" because how often do things and beliefs around us block our path and make us see differently....all we need is to ask for forgiveness. There was such pensive thought in here and strong emotions too that I feel if we don't make the change ourselves, we'll be walking in circles, repeating like you said. Great read :]

    Wow I love it!

^^ the opening stanza really got my attention... It really pulled me in. I love the comparison of a mistake to gravity!

^^ Wow I'm like this! I like the questions here... they're very relevant to a lot of people. And it's true, people are constantly struggling to stop making the same mistakes. It is a battle in a sense.

    -Temptation-

Drawing us into its arms and preventing
us from being the best we can be. Stopping
us for from moving forward, from receiving
    forgiveness.

^^ Love the word temptation here.. that was a good choice of word. I think you accidentally left the word 'for' between us and from here.

^^ Wow.. Denial was a great choice of word here. The ending was sad but realistic. It reminds me of myself and I'm sure many people can relate to this. We make the same mistakes, and deny it's wrong or justify it somehow... and there's not much to do about it.

This poem was really well-penned.. I could relate to it and I felt what you were expressing.

A twisted take on the saying "we learn from mistakes". We don't always follow that to the path do we?

I love the wording, the breaks and the questions. It makes this piece feel deep and powerful. You wrote a truly inspiring piece.

Such conviction in the lines here.
