Reverie... Author: R. Harris

I lay hidden beneath my cotton covered shield,
to defend me from cold chills and keep distant the dreams that disrupt my falling.

Against the golden gate I lean where my eyes first picture yours.
Ocean like circles that I long to dive into, more so with every time unlimited stare. Skin so white, doves blush at your purity...
with a smile that illuminates your time stilling beauty
which effortlessly takes my breath away.

My hands tremble,
as though danger awaits their every move. Thunderous drums pulsate through my chest, as your hypnotic scent slowly floats around me. The hairs on the back of my neck are upstanding, dancing as though i was under water.

You stand before me.

Fear replaces the blood that once roamed free. My insides derelict and now strength has abandoned me, like a friend that never was.

I wrap my arms around you.

Your heat revives life inside me
and enables my lungs to function with ease once more.

Time has frozen,

only our chests reveal that we're not statues, as they move up and down in unison. Each finger gently collides with yours.
Palms meet and your grip ever tightening the longer I choose to resist you.

I pause to gaze deeper into your mesmerising magnificence
that sees right through me with no difficulty.

Keys press delicately through the air, twinkle like a star filled sky
with tranquil acoustic chords being brushed around us.

A smile develops from the corner of your mouth.

No hesitation left;

the emotion through strings becomes irrepressible.

Lost in a world where i'm the creator, erasing all exits...
as if being blown out like candles.

Now surrounded by darkness, still you see tears plummet.
Each appears silent but to you they are crashing waves a
gainst eroding cliff sides.

Your image turn discoloured, undetectable.
Losing clarity of what was once thought real.
My mind blackens as I begin to wake.

You're no longer visible.

Forever you will be my reverie.

This piece was written about me,
NOT by me.
A very close friend for many years,
Until about six months ago.

I thought I'd share it.
