I pose, desolate

in a sleepy sun

kissed morn,

as corn followers

adorn my roots

with nourishment

from ancient

footsteps, that

hither in

antique winds

of yesterday.

First, the title drove my attention to the target topic of interest. It's inspiring! The idea of desolation in a sleepy sun is unique, being growing differently and so is the special choice of morn time. The correlation of this action with corn followers does also make the poem fantastic as thought provoking and insightful. Andrea, you penned a great piece in few words. I loved that. Excellent :)
