To the Huntress

by Saerelune   Mar 18, 2013

(What will you do, girl, when there's no man alive?
Would you cease to exist just because Adam's never born?
You never were a child of God anyway, let it die.)

And so it started out with an echo, winds mocking, revenge
reverberating through the very vein of your veins, running
faster until breath became precious, time running out
of time, almost as fast as a cheetah tearing its skin
to branches, leaving blazing blots all throughout the night.

But you weren't done, worn by carnivore skin, almost
too ancient to believe in the magic of humans, too dependent
of the sky, you couldn't bat your lashes to remind yourself
that dreams and stars weren't related, as much
as an impala's skin could be relative to a lion's: both
prey and predator - almost golden when you sharpen
your eyes to the tool of your desire, like an arrow
to the heart, narrowing the distance
between your desperate fangs
and its next victim.

What i gather is a woman perhaps let down by a love or maybe love altogether and identifying with the ferocious aspect of womanhood, something primal in her nature that is beastly, and finding the strenghth, courage, freedom of "the huntress"who is not the prey...the victim of said hurt but is herself the hunter.you made me think which is all i could ask for in a poem.thank you for poem

Oh mercy- I can see why you placed in misc. but I can also see it in dark... Love the angles I get in this piece. To me, its like I'm getting a sense of darkness in relationships or not being able to connect... sadness and frustration, like a letter to oneself... I'm really not good at trying to decipher another's poetry I can only share what I get from a poem and this one is truly a favorite of mine by you.
The wording is dark, mysterious and fun in a sense... truly love this piece!
