Widow of January

by Meme   Mar 18, 2013

You lulled the frozen
beats that defined my
state of living; the ice
that burnt every breath
and I believed in the
magic of the moment.

But I exhaled the chill
in my chest to find
that I lost you amidst
the silence of winter
nights.

--
I can't breath easy..
--

Let me find you so
I can sing the ballad
of contradictions
that I am carrying.
Let me find you so
I can write the lost
words I now believe.

Don't let the calendar
pages steal away the
lifetime we could have.

Come back to me!

I never wanted to be the
widow of that last January.

There is so much I like about this verse it has such a melancholy feel about it which is very much in keeping with the subject and the month you refer to here. Also, I loved the layout...the only think I could sugguest about that is to separate this line from the rest....Come back to me! I just think it should stand on its own for better emphasis?

    But I exhaled the chill
    in my chest to find
    that I lost you amidst
    the silence of winter
    nights.

This part was very creative I thought....rather than just say a long sigh you were very artistic in your description.

I also thought your ending was perfect...very nice write from you.
