Things you left behind

by Saerelune   Jul 25, 2013

My heart, our anniversary,
bow-tie you never bothered to wear,
tissue, toilet paper, intermixture
of my shampoo and your
aftershave, aftertaste, usb
without your poetry,
apology, insecurity,

nothing,
nothing,
nothing.

Another short but powerful one. I really relate to this, I like the depth it goes into as well, how they can leave everything behind, to the point where you can begin to list it all. Material possessions as well as emotions, but then at the same time they left nothing behind.

The way I take this is that they left a lot behind, as in misery, pain, heartache, as well as the material things and belongings. But then inside you, they left nothing, you feel like they had taken everything you had, everything you wanted and you feel so empty without them that it feels they have left nothing behind, no reason for you to carry on.

Very sad thought, emotional, and to fit it into this small poem with the layout you picked was great.

I think the nothing being repeated at the end was very well done. The ending is actually the answer to the title, which I liked too.

So well done for this one, very unique little poem.

This is definitely a more modern style here and modern feeling with everything you incorporated. I love the intimacy it shows that you had with this person that left.. right down to the shampoo/aftershave. Weird that you were left toilet paper.. lol. Hopefully it wasn't used :P

OKAY I know what you mean, or at least I think I do, with used tissues from tears. But still I had to pull a funny.

This is definitely a favorite of yours in this style. LOVE IT.
