Everybody Loses

I told you once that calendar
pages never marked new
beginnings for me, they just
reminded me with the loses I
carried around. The burdens
within that I never shared; not
by choice but by fear.

And then you came....

A beautiful chaos was how
others saw you, but they missed
the fact that you complimented
the scars that mapped a bumpy
road to my heart. You held me like
I'm the most fragile thing you ever
saw, and I was!

In life you come to realize that
you don't always win, and in rare
times a loss becomes an answer
to your salvation. And yes, I did
lose that day, but I lost my past
for a present with you.

Remember..?

.
Remember when September
cradled the birth of a new
chapter in our lives? I still
do! I recall the image in hues
of yellow, as bright as the
sun could be before nestling
into its bed.

So tonight I will blow the
candles and lose one more
time to the past, knowing
that I am celebrating a new
chapter with you!

    Precious! I love the two tones I can feel from this poem..the exclamation points usually mean anger or sarcasm, but for you its almost there to further your point on how much this person means to you. How badly you want them to understand that....then I feel a sensual feeling, a soft sweet touch of romance...

    I loved the calendar metaphor here, and the time, its creative...

    ^ This was my favorite stanza though...I love how this loss was also a gain....
