Trash

by Saerelune   Oct 27, 2013

Someone, please
recycle me.

I used to be useful -
now I'm nothing
but an out-of-date
synopsis, bleeding words
like a woman, and
these coffee stains
don't glamourize my eyes.

Another one of your short poems that hold a lot.

I see here a poem about someone looking in the mirror and not liking what they see, perhaps they see what they think everyone else will see, or has seen.

It talks a lot about judgement I think and how society shapes our way of thinking about ourselves and others, what is acceptable and what is not, what is beautiful and what is not.

I like your use of the idea of recycling. Like you want a fresh start because you feel you have made no use of what you are and want to try again, perhaps as something different.

The title is really strong because trash is such a hurtful word when used in the context that you mean, especially when we use it to label ourselves.

    Good job. Very raw.
