Embracing the Monster

by Jack Nightengale   Nov 25, 2013

It was a cold dark night,
With snow as high as the knees.
He stood alone against an army ready for a fight,
Since the army had trapped him and put his back to the trees.

The snow once white now painted red,
From the man, blood poured from head to toe.
He starts to faint from how much he's bled,
But shadows slowly begin to engulf him from the blood in the snow.

The army now afraid from the fearful sight,
From the shadows the man stood different than before.
A wave of soldiers lashed out with all their might,
Within a blink of an eye the soldiers fell, their souls gone forever no more.

He appeared to them not as a demon, nor a beast,
Without help the shadows will consume him and conquer.
Their souls he will soon devour for his feast,
The man is just embracing the monster.

I like this. The rhyme flow is really easy, rolls off the tongue when read aloud ( yes I do read things aloud XD ) and it has great imagery.

My favorite part in this is:
Their souls he will soon devour for his feast,
The man is just embracing the monster.

and the reason being for that is because it gave me chills.

    Great job! :)
