From The Grey

by Jack Nightengale   Dec 25, 2013

I didn't even know you for long,
I thought everyone was the same until you proved me wrong.
The words you spoke were soft and kind,
You enlightened me and gave me peace in mind.

You taught me things that I never even knew,
You spent your time teaching me and members of my crew.
Although you had your own struggles, you kept hope alive,
No matter what was thrown at you, you always managed to survive.

Kris, I wish I couldve caught you before you flew out,
If I had known sooner, I'd have been there no doubt.
Be safe out there in combat and don't let anything stand in your way,
You're a King in my eyes, slowly rising from the grey.

This is for the clubs weekly challenge.

This is a really good poem. I love how you used this for a contest and all of the points you hit were touching due to a certain friend.
