Phoenix Rebirth

by Demitri Von Schnutz   Feb 20, 2014

Through the sky you flew,
Shining as bright as the sun.
But on the ground no one ever knew,
That you could be shot down with a gun.

You burned red hot,
You evaporated every tear.
Your words linger just in case people forgot,
Your fire kept us safe whenever we were near.

Your ashes remain,
Your life was sold,
The memories you left still in our brain,
The urn has yet to get cold.

Be reborn from that which you leave behind,
Burn bright again so that you never leave our mind.
Fly high little Phoenix and spread your wings,
Melt the chains away that control us like strings.
