My dark friend

by Blackbird   Mar 6, 2014

This creature who lives inside of me,
I'm unfamiliar with its name.
I know it's not a pleasant soul,
It wants to play a game!

It taunts me every day,
Causing havoc on my brain.
It never rests - it's always out to play.

I'm always trying to fight it,
Fight the hideous thing away!
One big constant battle,
But the damn thing is here to stay!

The tablets never work,
They just numb my pain.
I want some peace and quiet,
I've had enough of its games.

The voices are annoying,
They haunt my dreams a lot.
Please, my dear friend - leave me alone and rot!

I just want a normal life,
Nothing too extreme.
All I want is happiness,
and my own life to lead.

Please, my inner dark destroyer,
You have damaged far too much.
Leave me alone,
My broken mind has had enough!
