Oh Promises

by Baby Rainbow   Jul 5, 2014

Promises,
oh promises,
why must thou break so easily?

Why must thou shatter
the fragile hearts
who take a chance
to believe thou true.

Promises,
oh promises,
why must thou die so early?

Why must thou abandon
the falling tear drops
that wish to change
your web of lies.

Promises,
oh promises,
why must thou cling so tightly
to the heart strings that
can't let go.

Promises,
oh promises,
how I still miss thou so.

I agree that the tone here is excellent. You have not only personified promises you have truly made them seem human. Cause we all have good and bad just like promises, they give us hope and they destroy us at the same time. I think the style you chose for this also helped bring the piece to life especially alongside the use of older styled English. Wonderful write

You have given promise a character for the reader to see how its very name can inspire things and at the same time break itself bringing grief. I also liked the tone of longing within it too..excellent.
