Temptation Is Red

by cassie hughes   Aug 10, 2014

Thy ruby richness beckons me
within the crystal waiting there.
My hand reaches, seeking,
what?
Oblivion?
Is this the culmination
of my hopes and dreams?
I falter.
Pull my hand away.
Nay.
The answer does not lie
within thy deep lure.
Turning my back at last
I realise what has been clear all along.
Thy crutch is as a mist,
gauzy and unreal.
Reality calls
and in its grip I am strong.
My sense of self renewed.
Red wine. Thou can away.

I love your language choice here, it is so... umm.... poetic? Lol! You don't often see the older style of English being used in writing, but I do still enjoy reading it!

It worked very well here, and also fitted in with the tone of the poem and the layout too. Great title choice showing that temptation, and then the last line leaving the reader wondering if temptation will win or not.

    Great write.
