Night"s shame...

by Dancing Rivers   Sep 23, 2014

Twilight"s glistening eyes shine,
As he gazes upon his love-
The night-her heart so bright,
Shining moonlight upon the earth
Softly, twilight"s quartet,
Plays am evening serenade,
Enchanting the gentle night
With words of fiery passion.
The night and twilight
Waltz across the sky,
Illuminated by the star"s
wondrous gazes.
These eternal lovers-
Never quite together-
Have never been apart.
As the evenings song
Reaches a crescendo,
Twilight kisses the lovely night
And midnight is born.
Haunting, seductive, midnight.
How cruel she is,
Her envy of night destroys all things pure.
As she approaches, the stars
Hide in fear, their shining eyes.
Only nights moonlit heart,
Braves the darkness, of midnight"s
Cruel, deceptive seduction,
But midnight wins, clouding night"s
Moonlit heart, bringing her sorrow.
In shame, the night flees from twilight
Until at dusk they meet again.

This poem was inspired by my favourite jazz musician,KurtElling"s song, moonlight serenade. :-)

Such a hauntingly beautiful piece. with some gorgeous imagery.
    'Softly, twilight's quartet
    plays an evening serenade.'
Is a lovely way to bring in the musicality of the piece which not only continues in the words you use but also in the flow of those words. The whole becoming a gorgeous melody to love.
    'Twilight kisses the lovely night
    and midnight is born'
Another superb couple of lines, introducing a dischord into the dance as midnight tries to destroy their harmony.
A wonderful illustration of how someone can decide to wreck a relationship purely through jealousy and because they want what someone else has.
    Well done. :)
