My pet"s pet

by Dancing Rivers   Sep 24, 2014

I'm sitting there
On the kitchen chair,
All alone,
Waiting for my pet, to come home.
I wait
And wait
And wait.
I am my pet"s pet.

I hear a faint click,
Over the clock"s tick.
there's a ray of bright,
Glorious sunlight,
My pet walks in
With a huge grin.
I am, my pet"s pet.

I soar like a jet,
Into the arms of my pet.
She holds me,
tells me she loves me.
I am my pet"s pet.

She holds me,a little longer,
As we sit and ponder.
she breaks out crying
Says she's trying,
To save a little money for us to be fed,
Before we depart to bed.
I am my pet"s pet.

I tell her don't be sad,
She's making me feel bad.
She says sorry,
But she's so worried.
I tell her all will be okay,
We must just pray for a better day.
I am, my pet"s pet.

We sit and talk
About how far we've walked.
We head to bed....
It's morning,I arise from bed
To find my pet and I...are dead
I am,I was, my pet"s pet...

Just a note on this poem, it was the first poem I'd ever written, we had to write a poem for English in grade eight, and I was sitting in the kitchen the day before the poem was due, still undecided about What to write.I looked at the door with the sunlight shining through the blind, and in that moment a sense of tranquil melancholy set over me as I listened to the ticking clock, when suddenly my cat walked into the kitchen from the garden and I thought to myself, who is the reel pet here, me or her? And then the idea for the poem began to form in my mind.my first personal poem :-)

This is excellent - lovely to read your first poem and it's a good showcase for your early rhyming ability. The ending is superb!
