Gossamer

Are not all of us like spiders,
weaving our webs delicately round us
Some spun of deceit and lies,
others spun with love and trust

And what then is this silk spun web
if not a safety net, security
relationships woven, traps for those soon to be dead

Fragile are they all, like gossamer and morning dew
yet stronger than even steel if reinforced
So why then lasts so precious few
Is it because the love intertwined is often lost

So twist ye, twine ye, like Arachne of old
delicate little webs of silver mist
and only those rarities with hearts of gold
shall know a loving relationships bliss

As to the rest, we're spiders all
and even those we love, we poison and devour
our webs begin to break, and so we fall
The gravity of the situation beyond our power

Soon we die, for our webs no longer held fast
we fell looking up at our gossamer home
the fractals reflected like cracked & broken glass
And fitting of spiders, we die all alone.
