To My Convicted Jailor

by cassie hughes   Nov 29, 2014

Behind those walls
do you remember me?
The one you left with nothing.
Just this emptiness inside.
The one left to discover
all your promises
were lies.

Cocooned by bars
have you had time to think?
Whilst out here I am trying
to forget the tears I cried.
To join the pieces of my
shattered life back.
Salve my pride.

Do you find rest?
Can you still breathe?
Has being caged urged any sense of shame?
Is your heart torn?
Are you the same?
Or do the long and lonely nights bring back
to you my name?

Behind those walls
do you remember me?
The one who shares your prison,
only from the other side.

Written for club challenge to write a letter to someone in prison.

This is an interesting piece considering the topic, I am sorry I have been behind on commenting on the round one poems, but this one is definitely well done. I like the word choice and the perspective you chose to write from was interesting.

    WEll done :)
