Eulogy In Oils

by cassie hughes   Mar 21, 2015

Green and verdant daubs the paint
upon the pristine canvas,
marking out the beauty that surrounds
you in your forest home.

Golden strokes define the fall
of sunlit tresses, lifted gently
by the softly blowing wind to wave
in glowing tendrils free.

Earthy brown and ochrous tints
offset the palest ivory
tones that smooth their way from hogs hair strands,
depicting skin like silk.

In oils with love your portrait
now takes shape
beneath my hand, forever captured
here, a requiem to life.

I like Mark's question about the inspiration, because this is amazing. There were so many wonderful piece, I don't know how you guys were able to vote! Amazing use of imagery (which was pretty much the goal of the contest) I love the style and flow as well, both help bring your images to life. Though the scene you've created here, is one I wish I could experience for myself as clearly as you've painted it here, I feel the voice and tone of this piece make it something so much more personal than even I am able to realize (I say even, because my mind is racing about this). Great Job!
