Staircase to whom?

by Meme   Mar 28, 2015

I will step down from your
heart, only to give you a
chance to see the world
without me. I will descend
step by step all the way
back to where you once
found me.

And I will wait; not for you,
but for serendipity to come
knocking on my door. And
just like an ignorant person
I won't open, for I want it
to wait just like I did.

You know? Bridges were
never the only way to tie two
different worlds together. The
question is, do you want it so
bad to invent a new way to me?

I never stepped away; simply
retreated, so don't mistake
my intentions. For my heart
now; just like yours, awaits
for another chance.

The writers voice reclaimed a lost energy in this impactful piece. I interpreted each stanza as having a lot of strong assertion as well as a lot of calm relief, and it all came from a well meaning place. The flow was exquisite, I had to enjoy this piece a few times over to savor it. Extremely well done

Meme has such grace and simplistic class with her poetry and this poem speaks volumes.

Waiting and holding out hope for the one who has drifted apart can be agonizing and when the love is unconditional it will gravitate such patience within the soul that they choose to hold onto hope.

Meme's word usage is very vibrant, Serendipity is a word that paints many colors to canvass and I was in awe..

    Very pretty piece this week~

This piece is interesting in the way it may be like a scorned woman making a man pay the price for making a mistake that the woman is not going to easily forget when he comes back, but at the same time it feels different from that scenario like when a woman waits for that certain person to come to their senses but they never do, so now they make them wait exactly what the poem said, it was intriguing and that's what I love reading a poem that has a little of love and yet instead of sweet it's bittersweet.

    Perfect balance.
Some say you don't know what you've got until you lose it.
Wrong, you know what you've got, you just don't know that you can lose it.

Asking for the freedom to explore the world, he leaves behind the most precious of gifts the world has to offer him; and this gift (you) will be doing your own exploring, whether you wait or not.

If this weary traveler believes himself to be Sinbad returning to brag of his adventures, he'd best book a room at the local inn, for there may be no room in your heart.

Excellent expression, Meme, well deserved win.
