This poem gives me pause. On the one hand it is beautiful in its depiction of trying to pry the other from his protective shell, his "castle / just for one." In doing so the poem is remarkable in its imagery (" trapped in / the middle of a / place that echoes / nothing but your / silence"). On the other hand, it is also so full of foreboding (" But are / you even real?") that I wonder if it's ever going to be worth the while to go through these heroics. (Contest Comment) |

Meme, your words ring with so much truth. I can especially relate to the other character you are talking to. A lot of times it is difficult to open up to a person we love because of past hurt and pain. We fight but sometimes it is not enough and it is tiring to keep fighting because of depression. Anyways thank you for sharing this as it is relatable. 5/5 |
