Fallen Angel

by cassie hughes   May 11, 2015

From out my dreams,
you came, and chased away
the blackened edges
of my weary heart
with springtimes promise
for a life renewed.
In summers sun I gloried,
as with wings unfurled
you sheltered me
from rays that sharp
before had branded scars
into my very soul.
But all too soon, I found
your brightness fading
into autumns tattered
drab, as unwilled in my need
I leeched the very best
you always had to give.
Corrupted angel, by my hand
you wilt and dim,
where once you shone
a beacon 'mid the
dark despair of winters
blackest night.

Excellent piece of writing, Cassie. Some lovely lines there.
