Silly old soul

by Dancing Rivers   Jul 20, 2015

I'm just a silly old soul.
Writing about what my mind deems appropriate,
in that golden moment of inspiration
that we poets so adore.

I wish that perhaps I could write with purpose,
to save a life or to stop the world's strife.
Unfortunately I'm not that grand,
I simply wrote with slight of hand.

I wonder what would occur
if I let go, shut down and set my hands free
to dance with the darkest part of my soul,
what devilish deeds would I accomplish with my words?

Sometimes I envy lucifer.
We all know of his darkness, and let him be.
But try as we might, we won't let ours show,
for fear of persecution or a place of eternal woe.

Please dear souls let's change the world.
Not in a one big bang, but one word at a time.
Let's take charge of our souls and awaken
let our true beings shine.

That is all, the end.

I love this - it's an excellent and honest write that we don't see enough of. We too often censor our own words and don't just write or talk of what we truly think or feel.
