Naked Tea

by cassie hughes   Aug 21, 2015

She knows.
She always knows,
no matter how I try to hide.
My fingers play
amongst the faded cotton flowers
as I wait.
She smiles.
That smile that says,
'There's no use to pretend.'
Then sips the fragrant brew
contained within fine,
aged china in her hand,
whilst my heart, racing,
speeds my mind once more
back to recall a misspent youth.
I sigh.
I have no choice.
There is no use pretending
that I have no demon
waiting here inside.
Yet,
As I start my tale,
relief begins to loosen
anxious tongue.
I know that tea with mother
is the balm I need and
always ends the same.

So many problems have been solved over that cup of tea with mum....I remember feeling so much trepidation because I just knew she knew but...so much relief when the problem was discussed, aired and a solution found all before that second cup was poured....this one made me smile so...thanks for that.

    Hello Cassie,

what would we do without our mums? Our mums know us better than anyone and although we try to protect them, they always end up being our listening ears.

Well done. Nice flow and layout.

    Take care,

    Michael

This has such beautiful imagery, and the ending was wonderful as well!
