Unexpected

Life expectancy-expecting the unexpected,
is a strange thing.
One day you're simply dreaming a dream
the next you find it's reality.

Years can pass by with the blink of an eye
before you see your dream materialize.
When it does you're caught by surprise
waiting anxiously for your demise.

Yet still, the dream remains reality
and finally you allow yourself to freely
enjoy the incredible liberty
of living a magnificent daydream.

Soft smiles melting in the sun
as you remember all the times you'd run
far away from yourself chasing empty dreams
only to watch them tear at the seams.

Now only joy is found here
as the shattered dreams disappear
you see that joy was always in you
only waiting to paint your skies blue.

Now sing and dance
for this second chance
rejoice for this beauteous moment.
