Simplicity

by Maple Tree   Nov 10, 2015

I like the taste of strong,
black coffee
brewed for hours,
aroma of a Cuban
rain.

Feeling a makeup brush,
glide across
my skin, leaving behind
a glittery shade
of blush.

I adore his rugged grin,
days after not shaving-
my mans shadow is
perect after five o'clock.

My grandsons giggle
when I simply walk
into the room, his
little blue eyes are
as clear as an ocean
sky.

Chocolate candy bars,
caress my taste-buds
best if eaten after two am.

My father's voice, calling
for no other reason than
to say "I love you Pumpkin".

When my daughters are
proud to resemble my smile.

I write of simple things-
precious moments, the reason
I get out of bed,

and

start a new day....

Its always the simple things that make us smile and feel so blessed. And then thankful because we've opened our eyes to another beautiful day. This write, in all its simplicity, packs a powerful punch and reminds all of us to slow down, smell the roses and be thankful for all these wonderful simple things that so many people tend to forget about and/or take for granted.
