Misplaced Identity

by cassie hughes   Jan 21, 2016

Look at me.
No, really see.
The me underneath
This facade, secretly
reviewing my choices,
debating my fate.
Do I go where my heart lies
or bide and stagnate?
Can I hold my head high
through it all and reveal
to the world with a flourish
I'm not her at all?
Or shrink back to the shadows,
A violet that hides
under bushels and barrels
with twisting insides?
So, I'm asking you now
to be honest and true
as you gaze at the person
you once thought you knew.
If you look with your heart,
Let your gaze burrow deep.
Can you answer my question?

Just who do you see?

    Cassie
Another intriguing piece you have penned. Showing one side of yourself to people yet hiding the real you deep inside. Hoping someone can see the real you.
    Love the metaphors you used.
    Great job!
    Take care
