Reminiscent.

by cassie hughes   Jan 24, 2016

Caught within a memory, the world continues on
it's mad rush headlong to oblivion, yet I am still.
Trapped by the faintest of scents.

It used to be yours.

Colours swirl and flow around me,
yet within the rainbow that is life
I can no longer feel the presence of an anchor's
steady weight lending it's comfort.

Just the lingering echo
of a sweet,
cloying,
cologne.

Written for Maples January prompt challenge. I chose the prompt 'Cologne'.

As Michael says, this captured me straight away; it is so rich in description like so much of your work. I could almost smell it myself at the end there!
All the best and stay well,

    Hello Cassie,

this captured me when I first read it. The description of an aroma that holds more that just scent. It has attached itself to a bunch of memories. The way you describe the cologne as 'cloying' was genius. The alliteration was a perfect way to leave a 'sticky' smell in the readers mind. You achieved this and more.

    Well done,

    Take care,

    Michael
