Ode to a Calet Maid.

by Kate Hicks   Oct 9, 2016

Through thick and thin you taught me
The way a teacher should
You showed me how to get stuff done
The way that Edna would

You were always very helpful
Never snappy or unkind
You taught me to crack on with it
and how to never mind

The wrinkled duvets wonky towels
And the pillows all askew
You'd say to me
Stop faffing now' and
'C'mon Kate...that'll do! "

So now when I turn up at work
The first thing that I do
Is think...damp dust first then bathroom packs
And don't forget lobby loos!

Just make the beds and roll the towels
Try not to faff and fuss
Check behind the sofas
And hoover up that dust

Yes you've been the perfect mentor
The best assistant too
You make a damn fine cuppa soup
And not bad coffee too

And despite tough times on difficult days
Wednesday springs to mind.
You still kept perfect pose and charm and never spoke unkind.

So if you haven't guessed by now
We'll miss you oh so much
Your cleaning skill are unsurpassed
You have the magic touch

Your tables always perfect
Never sticky or unclean
Your mopping skills a treat to watch
Your floors have perfect gleam

I think I've waffled on enough
Just one thing left to say
Dear Edna to us you'll always be Practically perfect in every way.'
