I made it through round one
But now I'm backstage
While others get their chance
To play the game
To prove they are better
To prove they are smarter
To prove they are more worthy
How much longer until
I hear a buzzer and
The show runner comes in
"Thanks for playing, but
Next contestant"

      This is from the perspective of a guy waiting in the green room on a game show. He is in the lead, but other contestants are about to get a chance. So... "Next contestant" are words that strike fear into the speaker's heart.
